End near for Hyundai i20 N, but there’s more to look forward to

The Hyundai i20 N is set to end production in March 2026, but the hot hatch should remain on sale in Australia until 2027 when new N models are due to arrive.

A dealer bulletin issued by Hyundai’s local arm, sighted by CarExpert, has revealed the end date for the turbocharged i20 N – though final production for Australia has already been locked in.

While the bulletin says enough stock has been secured for 2026, customers no longer have the ability to order their own preferred specification of i20 N from the factory, and will have to pick from the available stock at the dealer network.

The current i20 N is powered by a turbocharged 1.6-litre four-cylinder petrol engine making 150kW and 275Nm, driving the front wheels exclusively through a six-speed manual transmission.

The confidential dealer bulletin also revealed Hyundai will be offering a “new generation of accessible N products from 2027”.

“Hyundai N has to be reachable,” Hyundai N boss Joon Park told the UK’s Car magazine in July 2025.

“We actually want to play with our friend groups, with a proper-priced car and reachable price cars – we are not talking about a luxury exotic car,” he said at the time.

According to the Car, a new i20 N is currently in development, with a hybrid powertrain set to feature in the next-generation hot hatch.

In August 2025,CarExpert published spy photos of the next i20 testing in Spain, covered in heavy camouflage.
