2026 Skoda Octavia: Mild-hybrid power confirmed for mid-size sedan, wagon

Skoda Australia’s Octavia sedan and wagon range will be joined by a new mild-hybrid powertrain early next year.

The new entry-level Octavia mHEV Select will slot in at the bottom of Skoda’s mid-size car lineup, taking over range-opening duties from the petrol-only Octavia 110TSI Select. It’ll be available in both the sedan and wagon body styles.

Also replaced will be the sportier Octavia 110TSI Sportline, as the new mHEV Select variant will be available with an optional new Signature Package comprising an array of more premium features, including nicer upholstery and cabin comforts.

That means the Octavia range will be reduced to only mHEV Select and performance RS trims.

Pricing for the mild-hybrid Octavia has yet to be confirmed, though Skoda says it will make an announcement in early 2026, when the new variant goes on sale alongside the mild-hybrid Kodiaq mHEV Select large SUV.

With the addition of the Octavia mHEV, Skoda Australia has introduced minor specification changes to the base-spec Select trim.

Of note, a power tailgate and keyless entry have been made standard for the first time, while its alloy wheels have shrunk from 18- to 17-inch “to further improve ride comfort”.

Standard features still include LED headlights, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, 10.25-inch digital instrument display, 13.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and dual-zone climate control.

The optional Signature Package will add leather upholstery in either black or cognac, power-adjustable, heated, and ventilated front seats with position memory and massage, a head-up display, matrix LED headlights, tinted windows, and 18-inch alloy wheels.

That means that some features previously exclusive to the Octavia Sportline will no longer be available, including 19-inch alloy wheels, sports seats, and a hands-free power tailgate. Those features (and more) will still be standard on the Octavia RS flagship.

Powering the mHEV Select will be a turbocharged 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine with a mild-hybrid system, producing peak outputs of 110kW of power and 250Nm of torque. These figures are identical to the Kodiaq mHEV Select.

They’re also identical to the outputs of the outgoing 1.4-litre turbo-four in the 110TSI Select, albeit with greater fuel efficiency. Skoda quotes a combined-cycle consumption figure of 5.1L/100km for the mHEV Select sedan, and 5.2L/100km for the wagon.

In contrast, the 110TSI Select sedan has a claimed figure of 6.1L/100km, and 6.2L/100km for the wagon.

With pricing unconfirmed, any guesses are pure speculation. Given its budget-focused fleet orientation, it’s possible the new Octavia mHEV could be slightly cheaper than the outgoing 110TSI Select, which is currently priced at $41,490 drive-away.

The Sportline, meanwhile, starts at $46,490 drive-away, so a small price cut of about $1000 for the mHEV Select with the Signature Package seems likely.
