QOTD: When Is Tech Too Invasive?

qotd when is tech too invasive

I don’t like drunk driving, especially in this day and age when there is almost no excuse for it. Most of us have apps that can call us a ride, even in places where taxis aren’t plentiful, should we overindulge.

That said, I also don’t like having my privacy violated.

Like Matt P., I abhor the idea that I might need to blow into a breathalyzer to start my car because of government mandate — even if I have never been convicted of a DUI. I agree with Matt that sensors meant to detect alcohol in the air might register false positives if I am sober and my passenger has been imbibing.

That said, most of us make compromises when it comes to our privacy. I use social media, even though it serves me ads based on products I’ve searched. I test new cars each week, and some are equipped with safety tech that compromises the driver’s privacy.

So, at what point does the tech go too far?

You know what to do. Sound off below.
