Volkswagen ID. Buzz gets another round of price cuts

Volkswagen Australia has slashed up to $12,000 off the recommended retail prices of its ID. Buzz electric people mover and ID. Buzz Cargo electric commercial van, while also extending drive-away offers on both EVs until April 30, 2026.

It’s the second round of discounts in the past four months for the ID. Buzz, after prices were cut by as much as $8000 across the lineup in October last year.

Drive-away deals remain the same: the ID. Buzz Pro short-wheelbase people mover is still being offered for $79,990 drive-away; its long-wheelbase counterpart for $84,990 drive-away; and the ID. Buzz Cargo for $72,990 drive-away.

However, Volkswagen has taken an axe to the recommended retail prices of the electric people mover and cargo van lineup.

The ID. Buzz Pro SWB’s list price before on-road costs has been slashed by $12,000 to $75,990; the ID. Buzz Pro LWB by $10,300 to $80,990 before on-roads; and the ID. Buzz GTX LWB by $5000 to $104,990 before on-roads.

The ID. Buzz Cargo is also $10,000 cheaper at $69,990 before on-roads.

The entry-level ID. Buzz comes with a 210kW/560Nm electric motor powering the rear wheels and a claimed 422km WLTP driving range, while the flagship GTX features a 250kW/590Nm powertrain with all-wheel drive, a 450km range and a 6.4-second claimed 0-100km/h time.

The base model comes standard with 19-inch alloy wheels, matrix LED headlights with adaptive high-beam, adaptive cruise control, and ‘Easy Open’ powered sliding doors.

The cabin includes a 12.9-inch infotainment touchscreen with a 360-degree camera, wireless phone charging, and seven USB ports.

Options include the iconic Kombi two-tone paintwork, which Volkswagen Australia says features on around half of its stock and costs an extra $4090, while metallic and pearlescent colours cost $1890.

Volkswagen Australia previously told CarExpert the price reductions weren’t introduced due to slow sales.

Last year, Volkswagen sold 552 ID. Buzz people movers, topping the premium MPV segment and more than doubling the 263 units recorded by the next-best Mercedes-Benz V-Class. Meanwhile, the ID. Buzz Cargo commercial van notched up 190 deliveries, for a total of 742 ID. Buzz sales in 2025.

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles said in December 2024 it expected the combined ID. Buzz and ID. Buzz Cargo lineup to be its second best-selling commercial model range in Australia behind the Amarok, and then in June 2025 at the launch of the flagship ID. Buzz GTX said it expected to sell around 100 examples of the new top-spec model alone per month, accounting for about 20 per cent of total ID. Buzz sales.

It’s therefore fallen short, with the Caddy cargo van notching 885 deliveries and besting the combined ID. Buzz and ID. Buzz Cargo tally, though the full range of ID. Buzz variants is yet to post a full year of sales.

There’s also been a production pause for the ID. Buzz, as the model struggled to gain traction in the US with a narrower lineup not including short-wheelbase and Cargo versions, and amid ongoing tariff negotiations.

Globally, however, ID. Buzz sales doubled year-on-year in 2025, with 60,700 units sold, helping Volkswagen Group double its total commercial EV sales for the year.

The German automaker also outsold Tesla to become Europe’s number-one EV brand in 2025, with 274,417 sales, led by the ID.4 mid-size electric SUV with 80,123 units sold.
