As the fanciest of the three Barracuda models, the Gran Coupe featured several tell-tale styling features that differentiated it from the standard Barracuda and performance-oriented ‘Cuda. Power comes from a 383 four-barrel paired with TorqueFlite automatic. Other features include Rallye instrument cluster, rear “Astrotone” paint, consoles, Rallye wheels, factory AM radio, and more. Painted Black Velvet with black vinyl top over a black vinyl interior with houndstooth cloth inserts, this luxury pony car is offered by the selling dealer with a clear title.
The “TX9” Black Velvet paint is complemented by a black vinyl top. Other features include chrome driver-side remote mirror, Gran Coupe-specific fluted rocker panels, Gran Coupe-specific “Astrotone” rear-panel paint and trim, special rectangular grille inserts, front driving lights, and more. You can’t see it on this car, but it originally came with “V5R” red protective side trim, which would have been stunning when new. A set of 15-inch Rallye wheels are wrapped in 235/60 BFGoodrich Radial T/A raised white letter radials.
The Gran Coupe came standard with special leather and vinyl bucket seats, but vinyl and houndstooth cloth were one of two other choices that could be specified. The ones here are black with black/white cloth surrounded by a red seam. Other interior features include woodgrain trim, center console housing an automatic shifter, overhead console, Gran Coupe-specific door panels, power steering, and factory AM radio, among others.
Instrumentation includes the Rallye cluster featuring a 150-mph speedometer, 8000-rpm tachometer, and gauges for the oil pressure, coolant temperature, alternator, and fuel. The odometer shows 34,005 miles, though the title reads mileage-exempt.
The 330-horsepower 383 with four-barrel was the top engine available for the Gran Coupe, making this hardtop one of 1,088 U.S.-spec vehicles built with this engine. A three-speed TorqueFlite automatic plays a supporting role.
The undercarriage features power drum brakes on all four corners. There also is a custom dual exhaust system.
