Smart offers over $10,000 off runout electric SUVs

Smart is offering significant price cuts on 2024-build examples of the Smart #1and Smart #3 as it looks to clear stock ahead of the arrival of 2026 vehicles in local showrooms.

The price of the 2024 build Smart #1 Pro+ has been cut to $47,990 drive-away, including a $3500 ‘plate bonus’ and additional discounts. That compares with $54,900 before on-road costs for a newly ordered example.

The offer also extends to the Smart #3 Pro+ SUV, priced at $50,990 drive-away including a plate bonus, compared with its standard new-vehicle price of $57,900 before on-road costs.

Using the Smart online configurator, the saving totals up to $11,500 for either vehicle.

These offers are available only to customers in Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria, the only states that currently have Smart dealers.

The discounted pricing doesn’t include metallic paint or two-tone exterior colour options, and is available until February 28, 2026, or while stocks last.

The Smart brand, now a 50:50 joint venture between Mercedes-Benz and Geely, returned to Australia in 2024 after a decade-long hiatus.

The brand’s vehicles are imported by LSH Auto Australia, which says it retails more Mercedes-Benz vehicles locally each year than any other dealer group.

The Smart #1 and #3 are currently the only two models offered locally, with the Pro+ serving as the entry-level grade in both lineups, alongside the mid-spec Premium and Brabus performance variants.

Both models share underpinnings with the Volvo EX30 and Zeekr X, with Volvo and Zeekr also owned by Geely.

The two Smarts use the same 200kW/343Nm rear-mounted electric motor, with the #3 Pro offering a claimed 15km additional driving range over the #1 Pro +’s 420km (WLTP).

Both SUVs also use a 66kWh nickel cobalt manganese (NCM) battery pack.

Standard equipment includes 19-inch alloy wheels, a powered tailgate and a panoramic glass roof.

Smart’s sales performance in Australia so far is difficult to gauge, as LSH Auto doesn’t report Smart deliveries to VFACTS, the official new-vehicle sales data collated by the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries (FCAI).

Smart sales also don’t appear in the Electric Vehicle Council’s (EVC) sales reports, where brands such as Tesla and Polestar publish their results.

Following its first two models, the Smart range is set to expand locally with the Smart #5 – a Tesla Model Y rival – which was revealed in August 2024 and originally slated for a 2025 launch before being delayed.

LSH Auto Australia told CarExpert it now expects the Smart #5 to arrive in showrooms in the second half of 2026.
