The 2027 Cupra Raval electric hatch has been spied in Europe ahead of its official unveiling.

Images posted online by Wilco Blok and CocheSpias show two uncamouflaged Ravals recharging at what appears to be a Volkswagen Group office, with Porsche logos spotted on the ground.

Originally previewed as the UrbanRebel concept in 2021, the Raval is expected to slot in under the Born hatchback – with the Raval based on the same MEB+ platform as the Skoda Epiq and Volkswagen ID. Polo city cars.

Positioned as the sportiest of the trio, the Raval will sit around 15mm lower on a “sport chassis”, according to Cupra.

The electric hatch measures 4046mm long, 1784mm wide and 1518mm tall on a 2600mm wheelbase, giving it roughly the same footprint as the current petrol-powered Volkswagen Polo.

Cupra will offer a hotter VZ variant, with the electric performance variant featuring adaptive sports suspension, an ESC Off mode, and power-adjustable CUPBucket seats.

The Raval VZ is also set to gain some styling upgrades, like a rear diffuser, a rear spoiler, and 19-inch alloy wheels.

Its 166kW electric motor – up 11kW on lesser Ravals – will drive the front wheels through a limited-slip differential.

Inside, the Raval will get a digital instrument cluster and a 12.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system.

While full specifications haven’t been published at this stage, the concept was said to have covered the 0-100km/h sprint in 6.9 seconds – which just happens to be the same time as the related ID.Polo GTI.

The concept was also said to have had a driving range of 439 kilometres.

Cupra has confirmed the Raval will be available with 38kWh and 56kWh batteries – the same found in the ID.Polo – with the Cupra to be built alongside the Volkswagen at a production facility in Martorell, Spain.

“We are entering a historic year,” said Markus Haupt, Cupra CEO.

“In Martorell, the epicentre of future mobility, we are in the final phase of series production of the Cupra Raval, the car that will mark the beginning of a new era for the brand.”
