We are just a few weeks away from the official start of spring on March 20, so it’s the perfect time to admire a Springtime Yellow Mustang. Featured on AutoHunter is a pony car in precisely that hue. This 1965 Ford Mustang Convertible has been listed by a dealer in Denver, Colorado, and the auction will end on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at 11:45 a.m. (MST).
Otherwise identified according to its paint codes (8 or 81510), Springtime Yellow is a vibrant tone that seems less common on early Mustangs than colors such as Matador Red. When paired with a contrasting black retractable roof, it makes for an attractive package. According to the data plate, this Mustang was originally allocated to the Denver District Sales Office (DSO), so it may have resided in the same area its entire life – or at least a sizeable portion of it.

The car has a strong list of positive attributes both inside and out. The paint was redone about a decade ago, according to the selling dealer, and exterior features include chrome brightwork, power-retractable soft top, dual side mirrors, and a trunk-mounted luggage rack.

The cabin (arranged in a unique bench-seat configuration) is upholstered in Palomino vinyl, and features include power steering, a floor-mounted shift lever, and a push-button AM radio. That bench seat option, incidentally, allowed for true three-abreast seating – making this Mustang a more utilitarian car than one with buckets. There is a fold-down center armrest for convenience.

Under the hood is a two-barrel-carbureted 289ci V-8 mated to a rebuilt three-speed automatic transmission. Mechanical work over the past year has been extensive, including replacement of the brakes, rotors, calipers, brake master cylinder, shocks, electric fuel pump, seals, and upper/lower ball joints. An alignment was performed and the differential was rebuilt, too. Added niceties include power disc brakes and a dual exhaust system.

With springtime on the horizon, it’s time for convertibles to start coming out of hibernation throughout the country. And this Springtime Yellow Mustang, with its $10,000 in recent maintenance, is ready to rock and roll. The selling dealer has provided a driving video, and the car has a nice growl to it.
