The Skoda Octavia has received a new mild-hybrid powertrain in Australia, available in both liftback and wagon body styles, but only in base Select trim.

The new mild-hybrid variants of the Czech mid-sizer are due in Australian showrooms in April 2026, and take the place of the outgoing 110TSI Select and Sportline.

The Octavia Select Hybrid (mHEV), as it’s officially called, is priced at $41,990 before on-road costs or $43,990 drive-away in liftback guise.

The wagon version is priced at $43,490 before on-roads, or $45,990 drive-away.

That makes it more expensive than the outgoing purely petrol-powered Select 110TSI, which is priced at $41,990 drive-away as a liftback or $43,990 drive-away as a wagon.

The new variants use a turbocharged 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine producing 110kW of power and 250Nm of torque, mated with a 48V mild-hybrid system and a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Those outputs are the same as the 1.4-litre turbo-petrol four-cylinder in the existing Select 110TSI, which uses an eight-speed torque-converter automatic transmission.

However, claimed fuel consumption drops to 5.1L/100km in the liftback and 5.2L/100km in the wagon – down from 6.1L/100km and 6.2L/100km, respectively.

The superior fuel economy is achieved through the mild-hybrid system’s assistance during acceleration and its enabling of engine-off coasting. The system can also recover energy during braking.

Standard equipment for the Octavia Select Hybrid (mHEV) includes:

  • 17-inch ‘Mensa Aero’ alloy wheels
  • Space-saver spare wheel
  • Proximity entry with push-button start
  • Hands-free power tailgate
  • Heated, power-folding exterior mirrors
  • 10-inch Virtual Cockpit digital instrument cluster
  • 13-inch touchscreen infotainment system
  • Satellite navigation
  • 15W wireless phone charger with cooling
  • Heated front seats
  • Dual-zone climate control
  • Leather-wrapped steering wheel
  • Adaptive cruise control
  • Blind-spot monitoring
  • Driver fatigue detection
  • Front cross-traffic assist
  • Lane-keep assist
  • Rear cross-traffic alert
  • Traffic sign recognition
  • Travel Assist
  • Reversing camera
  • Front and rear parking sensors

The $6500 Signature Pack adds:

  • 18-inch ‘Lerna’ alloy wheels
  • Matrix LED headlights
  • Rear privacy glass
  • Leather upholstery in Black or Cognac
  • Power-adjustable front seats
    • Memory
    • Massage
    • Heating
    • Ventilation
  • Head-up display

All exterior finishes are no-cost options apart from Velvet Red Metallic, which attracts a $770 surcharge.

The new mild-hybrid Select slots in under the sporty RS flagship, which is priced at $62,990 drive-away in liftback guise or $64,990 drive-away as a wagon.

The RS is powered by a 195kW/370Nm turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, also mated with a seven-speed dual-clutch auto.

Despite having significantly more power than the Select, it boasts combined-cycle fuel consumption of 7.0L/100km, less than 1.0L/100km more than the outgoing 1.4-litre Select.
