2027 Skoda Elroq: Sporty new variant to join Australian lineup

Skoda‘s 130th birthday celebration may be coming to an end, but the Czech automaker isn’t ready to hit the lights and cut the music just yet.

The commemorative 130 Years version of the Elroq electric SUV is set to bow out later this year, but it will be replaced by another fresh variant for the Australian market.

The variant in question is the Elroq Sportline, a trim level that has been applied to countless modern Skoda models. It’s due later this year, though Skoda hasn’t provided more specific launch timing.

As the replacement for the current flagship 130 Years, the Sportline is expected to feature the same rear-mounted 210kW/545Nm electric motor fed by an 82kWh lithium-ion battery. It’ll travel roughly 529km between charges, and can charge at up to 135kW when plugged into a DC charger.

However, unlike the 130 Years, the Sportline presents with black exterior elements, a similarly dark interior with sporty touches, and a few choice changes to elevate the driving experience.

Starting with the outside, the Sportline can be distinguished by its gloss black side mirrors, window trims, and roof rails. The blackout treatment also extends to the front spoiler, rear diffuser, and Skoda lettering on the bonnet and tailgate.

Inside, the theme continues with black ‘Suedia’ and leatherette upholstery, sportier front seats, a three-spoke steering wheel, and aluminium pedal covers.

Proper performance upgrades are reserved for the upcoming Elroq RS, but the Sportline should display improved handling courtesy of its lowered stance and ‘progressive’ steering.

Full pricing and specifications for the Elroq Sportline have not yet been announced, but CarExpert speculates the fresh variant will likely ask between $65,000-70,000 drive-away, if not slightly cheaper.

Confirmation of the Elroq Sportline for Australia comes amid an aggressive product offensive from Skoda Down Under.

In 2026 alone, the brand has introduced new powertrains and/or trim levels across the Elroq, Enyaq, Octavia, Kodiaq, and Superb model lines, effectively refreshing the portfolio after similarly significant steps were taken last year.

Hotted-up RS versions of the Elroq and Enyaq EVs are still set to arrive mid-year, before Skoda turns its attention to a pair of new electric SUVs – the Epiq and Peaq – both of which could lob as soon as 2027.
