AutoHunter Spotlight: 1972 Chevrolet C10

Many TV shows and movies feature vintage American trucks in their stock configuration and covered with years of patina. Those look great and definitely have a following, but they’re not the only type of classic pickup. Many old-school trucks have show-quality paint, flashy wheels, and more modern performance hardware and convenience features. This 1972 Chevrolet C10 available right now on AutoHunter is a great example of a classic truck with updated looks and equipment.

No matter what you do with an older truck, it helps to start with a good foundation. This one has it: Chevy C10? Check. Short bed? Check. The people behind this restored/customized build then covered it in glossy Hyper Blue Metallic paint, which you may recognize from the sixth-generation Camaro.

A billet grille, 20-inch front/22-inch rear Foose chrome wheels, and polished dual exhaust outlets make this truck sparkle even more. Power disc brakes with drilled and slotted rotors are there to help keep its body smooth and crumple-free.

The cabin has been thoughtfully and tastefully modernized. You won’t see any wild ambient lighting or a giant touchscreen. Instead, it comes equipped with black leather bucket seats, power steering, Vintage Air A/C and heat, and a Bluetooth-compatible AM/FM stereo that has a retro look. On top of that, the gas tank was moved from behind the seats to underneath the wood slats of the bed.

At this point, you’re probably wondering what’s under the hood. Don’t worry — it’s a V-8, but it’s not a Chevy engine. BluePrint Engines supplied the new 383, which is connected to a four-barrel carburetor, aluminum intake manifold, and serpentine belt system. A new 700R4 four-speed automatic with overdrive should make cruising more pleasant and fuel-efficient. When speed is more important than miles per gallon, a 12-bolt Positraction rear end with 3.73 gears is ready to light up the Continental ExtremeContact radials.

If you want a classic American pickup with useful 21st-century touches, bid on this 383-powered 1972 Chevrolet C10 right now. The auction ends on Thursday, March 26, 2026, at 11:15 a.m. (PDT).
