F1-inspired Mercedes-AMG GT63 special priced for Australia – but it’s already sold out

A limited-run Motorsport Collectors Edition of the formidable Mercedes-AMG GT63 Pro 4Matic+ has been confirmed for Australia at a cool $149,900 more than the standard version’s $418,900 before on-road costs.

Due here this month, priced at $568,800 before on-road costs, the serious premium over the GT63 Pro wasn’t enough to stop the Motorsport Collectors Edition from selling out in Australia, although the number landing here hasn’t been revealed.

Speaking to CarExpert at a media event, Mercedes-Benz Australia product manager Ross Crabtree said: “The Motorsport Editions are essentially spoken for” but wouldn’t offer any further insight.

A limited batch of 200 Motorsport Collectors Edition GT63s globally was announced by the automaker at the Singapore Formula 1 Grand Prix in 2024.

The special treatment comes with a unique livery inspired by the colours used by the brand’s Formula One (F1) team, which will race at the 2026 Australian Formula One Grand Prix at Albert Park this weekend.

Starting with a GT63 Pro coupe in Obsidian Black, the Motorsport Collectors Edition adds contrasting details in the same shade of green as the Mercedes-AMG F1 Team’s naming rights sponsor, Petronas.

The Petronas green paintwork has been applied to the 21-inch wheels, which are fitted with Michelin semi-slick Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tyres, as well as the glasshouse surrounds and the front and rear bumpers.

There’s also a hand-painted silver three-pointed star pattern stretching from the coupe’s doors across its rear quarters to the liftgate, where it meets the black rear wing.

The crest for AMG’s hometown – Affalterbach, Germany – is hand-painted on both doors to finish the exterior changes.

Inside, Petronas green is used on the illuminated door sills, as well as stitching on the doors, console, leather/microfibre steering wheel and Nappa leather seats, which have AMG-embossed headrests.

The console includes a commemorative plaque for the 200 Motorsport Collectors Edition models offered globally.

Australian allocations could range from one to 200, effectively, with Mercedes-Benz Australia unwilling to share how many it has secured.

The automaker confirmed the March 2026 arrival of the Porsche 911 GT3-rivalling GT63 Pro 4Matic+ last year, when it also announced the GT 43 four-cylinder, rear-wheel drive version as part of an expanded GT coupe lineup.

The Motorsport Collectors Edition has no mechanical changes over the GT63 Pro – a full-time model in the local lineup – and includes its 450kW/850Nm 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 petrol engine, mated with a nine-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. MORE: Explore the Mercedes-AMG GT showroom
