Ford Mustang recalled

The Ford Mustang is being recalled for a software issue that prevents owners from being warned their brake fluid level is low.

It had already recalled 9194 examples of the pony car for this same issue in 2023, but is now recalling 207 vehicles – and even if you own an affected vehicle and took it in last time for the fix, you’ll still need to visit a dealer again as an incorrect software update was performed.

“Due to a software issue, the brake fluid warning light may not illuminate as intended to warn the driver if the brake fluid level is low,” Ford Australia says in its recall notice.

“As a result, insufficient brake fluid could lead to a reduction in braking performance. A reduction in braking performance could increase the risk of an accident causing injury or death to vehicle occupants and other road users.”

  • A total of 207 vehicles are affected, produced between 2021 and 2023
  • The Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) list is attached here
  • The original recall notice is attached here

If you own an affected vehicle, you’ll need to schedule an appointment with an authorised Ford dealership to have the Body Control Module (BCM) software updated, free of charge.

If you have any further questions, you can contact the Ford Customer Relationship Centre on 133 673.
