Geely Auto Australia has confirmed it will launch its first non-SUV model during the second half of 2026, taking the form of a compact battery-electric hatchback.

The Geely EX2 is set to arrive Down Under during the latter half of next year, with further details to be announced in the lead-up to its local introduction.

For now, we know the city-sized EV measures 4135mm long, 1805mm wide and 1580m tall; while the wheelbase stretches 2650mm – for reference, a Volkswagen Golf measures 4282mm long with a 2631mm wheelbase.

The EX2, also known as the Xingyuan (or Star Wish) in China, is based on the same Global Intelligent Electric Architecture (GEA) as the larger EX5 and Starray EM-i SUVs already on sale in Australia.

According to Geely, the Xingyuan is the best-selling vehicle in China so far this year, with over 400,000 units sold in the 12 months since its launch, as well as 50,000 units in September 2025.

The Chinese brand says the EX2 “demonstrates exceptional use of interior space” with more than 30 “thoughtfully placed” storage compartments dotted throughout the vehicle, including a ‘frunk’ under the bonnet.

While pricing and specifications are still to be confirmed, Geely’s aggressive pricing strategy with its mid-sized SUVs hint at a very sharp entry point for the EX2 – potentially in the high-$20,000 to low-$30,000 bracket. That would have it well under the starting price of the MG 4 (from $37,990 drive-away), and within striking distance of the new BYD Atto 2 (from $31,990).
