Lexus fixing camera fault in over 27,000 vehicles

Lexus Australia is working to rectify a camera fault in more than 27,000 vehicles across all its model lines.

“The subject vehicles are equipped with a Parking Assist ECU, which is a component of the Panoramic View Monitor (PVM) system that displays the rearview image,” the company says in a notice published on its website.

“The software in this ECU may cause (1) the rearview image to freeze briefly during the backing event if reverse is selected within a specific time after ignition is turned on; or (2) the rearview image not to display on the next ignition on if the ignition is turned on and off within a specific time.”

Lexus Australia is offering to reprogram the ECU software in affected vehicles, free of charge.

The Japanese luxury brand is calling it a “Customer Service Exercise” rather than a recall, and it involves the following vehicles:

  • ES sedans built between August 1, 2022 and August 26, 2025
  • GX SUVs built between March 4, 2024 and June 4, 2025
  • LC coupes and convertibles built between May 19, 2023 and December 25, 2024
  • LM people movers built between May 1, 2023 and June 2, 2025
  • LS sedans built between October 24, 2022 and July 23, 2025
  • LX SUVs built between December 1, 2021 and July 25, 2025
  • NX SUVs built between November 1, 2021 and May 14, 2025
  • RX SUVs built between October 20, 2022 and August 23, 2025
  • RZ SUVs built between February 1, 2023 and October 26, 2023
  • UX SUVs built between September 5, 2022 and August 20, 2025

You can view the company’s notice and Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) list on its website.

Lexus Australia says it’s contacting all affected owners.

An inspection and reprogramming conducted at one of its dealers will take approximately one hour but, depending on the dealer’s work schedule, owners may need to make their vehicles available for a longer period of time.

If you have any further questions, you can contact a Lexus Australia dealer or the Lexus Customer Assistance Centre on 1800 023 009 on weekdays from 8:00am to 6:00pm AEDT.
