Mercedes-Benz A-Class recalled

Mercedes-Benz Australia is recalling three A-Class vehicles to rectify a potential manufacturing defect which could see the internal door latch fail, preventing the door from being opened from inside.

“Due to a manufacturing defect, the cable connecting the handle of one or more of the doors to the internal release mechanism may have been incorrectly mounted and could detach. If this occurs, the affected door may not be able to be opened from inside the vehicle,” the recall notice said.

“In the event of an emergency, if the occupant/s are unable to exit the vehicle it could increase the risk of injury or death to vehicle occupants.”

It’s the first time the A-Class has been recalled since 2024, when two separate notices were issued – one for a power steering electronic control unit issue, the other to rectify incorrect fuel consumption window stickers.

Mercedes-Benz Australia said it will contact affected owners in writing to schedule an appointment and have the fault corrected at no cost.
