this robot fish collects ocean data

Eve is a robotic fish developed by students at ETH Zürich to help marine biologists study ocean life with minimal disruption.

Designed to mimic real fish movements, Eve blends naturally into coral reefs, allowing researchers to observe marine ecosystems without disturbing wildlife. Its silicone tail enables silent, fluid motion while capturing high-resolution underwater footage.

Equipped with advanced sensors and real-time navigation, Eve can avoid obstacles, map its surroundings, and collect valuable data as it swims. A built-in environmental DNA (eDNA) filtration system allows scientists to identify nearby species without direct contact, making research more efficient and less invasive. This innovative robot highlights how technology can support ocean conservation and marine science. Would you trust a robot fish to help protect the ocean?
