We’ve been fortunate to test out a couple of “Re-Engineered Classics” from Velocity Restorations, so we were eager to see its 1973 International Harvester Scout II build at SEMA 2025. It still has the burly presence of the original version, but now it’s dressed in handsome Shelter Green paint and equipped with new hardware from the ground up.
Velocity based its Scout II on a Roadster Shop chassis with an independent front suspension, then installed Penske shocks, Forgeline wheels, and 35-inch BFGoodrich tires. The custom interior is an even brighter shade of green and offers conveniences such as Dakota Digital gauges, a RetroSound head unit with Focal speakers, and Vintage Air climate control. This Scout covers ground quickly thanks to its LT1 6.2-liter V-8, which is connected to a 10L80 10-speed automatic and a dual-range transfer case. If we get the chance to drive this impressive Velocity Restorations build, you’ll be the first to know — and watch our review.
