“New year, new me” is a phrase that’s normally proclaimed on New Year’s Day by someone who has all the intention in the world of keeping his or her resolutions but falls short by the end of the first week. If the 2027 GMC Sierra 1500 could talk, it could yell this from the rooftops, and it’d be true thanks to its new design, interior, and small-block V-8 options.
“With the all-new next-generation Sierra 1500, GMC isn’t simply raising the bar – we’re redefining it,” says Michael MacPhee, global vice president, Buick & GMC. “From a new generation of small block V-8 power and precise off-road capability to our most immersive cabin ever, Sierra delivers the Professional Grade confidence, craftsmanship and technology our customers demand.”

First and foremost, there are two new small-blocks that are available for Sierra 1500 pickups. The new 5.7- and 6.6-liter V-8s deliver more displacement, horsepower, and torque than the current 5.3- and 6.2-liter engines.
These new V-8s are offered in conjunction with a 2.7-liter Enhanced TurboMax inline-six and a 3.0-liter Duramax Turbo-Diesel V-8. All engines include higher compression ratios, tuned intake manifolds, larger throttle bodies, and dual-fuel injection, which combines direct and port injection.

Engine Specifications
- 2.7-liter Enhanced TurboMax inline-six: 350 horsepower, 455 lb-ft of torque, new turbocharger, upgraded fuel injection, improved active thermal management, and redesigned pistons
- 5.7-liter Small Block V-8: 402 horsepower, 428 lb-ft of torque, capable of towing up to 13,500 pounds when “properly equipped”
- 6.6-liter Small Block V-8: 481 horsepower, 501 lb-ft of torque, largest-displacement V-8 engine in its class according to General Motors
- 3.0-liter Duramax Turbo-Diesel V-8: 305 horsepower, 495 lb-ft of torque, can travel up to 900 miles on the highway when paired with the optional 34-gallon fuel tank
No matter which engine you choose, prospective customers will be able to combine it with one of six trim packages that fits their style the best. The selection consists of the Pro, Elevation, AT4, AT4X, Denali, and Denali Ultimate. If you’re someone who likes to go off-road, the AT4 or AT4X might be your best bet, as each includes a factory-installed two-inch lift with monotube shocks, 34-inch all-terrain tires, and more. If you’re a foreman, or you are in a job where you need the versatility of a truck but you also need to impress high-dollar investors, then maybe the Denali or Denali Ultimate is for you. Each are still very capable towing and off-road, but the interiors are more luxurious than the other trims, which focus more on ruggedness or functionality.

Inside the cab of the 2027 GMC Sierra 1500 is a new user interface that is “designed to make information easier to find and truck-specific tasks easier to manage.” The driver and passenger are surrounded with displays that are headlined by the “largest in its class” 16.3-inch diagonal center infotainment touchscreen. GM’s new interface includes multiple camera views, including but not limited to: Cabin Glance, front and rear underbody, and Hitch View. New owners will be able to experience the In-Vehicle Trailering App, Android Auto6, Apple CarPlay, Super Cruise driver assistance, and much more.
Standard across all trim levels are 12 new safety features and “at least” eight new standard content features. Super Cruise comes standard on AT4, AT4X, Denali, and Denali Ultimate trim levels but costs extra for the Elevation trim level.

MSRP for the four-wheel-drive, crew cab 2027 GMC Sierra 1500s are as follows:

According to GMC, the new pickups will arrive at dealerships before the end of 2026, just in time to see if the “new year, new you” will include a new pickup truck to help accomplish those all-important resolutions.
