Sometimes it’s a good idea to go full Bruce Springsteen and reminisce about the “Glory Days” or history through stories or tributes. Subaru of America recently revisited its own history by introducing two limited-production vehicles that pay homage to the chassis codes the vehicles had when they arrived in the United States: “GD25” for the WRX and “ZC15” for the BRZ.
“Our anniversary edition WRX and BRZ models commemorate the iconic performance heritage and successes of both vehicles in the U.S.,” says William Stokes, Car Line Planning Manager for Subaru of America. “The WRX GD25 is a tribute to our rally-ready sedan and its sports car pedigree, including the wing it shares with the ARA Championship-winning ARA25L. Similarly, BRZ ZC15 embodies the best of our long-running, accessible performance sports car, right down to its rear-wheel-drive engagement.”

The 2027 Subaru WRX GD25 is powered by a 2.4-liter turbocharged boxer four that puts out 271 horsepower connected to a six-speed manual transmission with an STI short-throw shifter; there will be no option for an automatic. The Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel-Drive-equipped sedan will also feature a flexible strut tower for enhanced rigidity, a performance-tuned suspension, Brembo brakes with gold-painted calipers, and Bridgestone Potenza S007 tires.
The WRX GD25 will only be available in World Rally Blue paired with 19-inch gold alloy wheels. At the rear, you’ll find a Subaru Tecnica International dry carbon fiber swan-neck rear wing — the same used on Travis Pastrana’s WRX ARA25L rally car. That exterior is complemented by an interior which showcases black Ultrasuede Recaro bucket seats with red accent stitching.

The 2027 Subaru BRZ ZC15 pays tribute to the first-generation BRZ. The BRZ ZC15 is powered by a 228-horsepower 2.4-liter Subaru boxer four mated exclusively to a six-speed manual transmission, exclusively. Unlike the WRX GD25, this vehicle will arrive as a rear-wheel-drive model.

The model-exclusive Ceramic White exterior paint provides excellent curb appeal, especially when paired with matte bronze wheels, gold-painted Brembo calipers, and unique bronze decals. Subaru notes that the white-on-bronze color scheme is a nod to the 2020 Subaru BRZ tS models. The BRZ ZC15 will also include a black decklid rear spoiler and flexible V-bar underneath the hood.
Inside, you’ll find black leather-appointed upholstery paired with Bordeaux red inserts that make it stand out from the rest of the BRZ lineup. There is also a commemorative “ZC15” anniversary plaque installed on the center console near the STI aluminum and leather short-throw shifter.

Depending on which Subaru fits your fancy, you will have to act fast as there will only be 350 units available for the WRX GD25 and 300 for the BRZ ZC15. The GD25 will be arriving during the summer of 2027, while the ZC15 will be available early in 2027. More detailed specifications and pricing will be announced for each vehicle closer to market launch.
