Aston Martin DBX GT emphasises luxury over performance

While other versions of Aston Martin DBX talk up the SUV’s sportiness, the new GT dials down that angle to play up its luxury element.

To that end there’s significantly more exterior bright work, including a dual polished and satin finish for the metal strake leading from the fender into the front door, and a chromed arc highlighting the upper section of the side windows.

There are also new double vaned bars in the grille, which visually carry on into the outer vents that house the daytime driving lights. The new grille bars are available in a bright or dark finish.

The sills, rear diffuser and lower front bumper are no longer in black, but are now colour-coded. The standard 22-inch forged alloy wheels have a diamond-turned satin titanium finish.

Completing the blingy makeover, the quad exhaust tips have also ditched their dark metal look. The outer pair now have a bright, polished finish, while the inner set are satin anodised.

Inside the cabin there are new seats with more bolstering, and a new 10mm thick layer of memory foam. The outboard rear seats have longer headrests and are now sculpted to hold passengers in more tightly.

The panoramic glass roof has been made standard, while anodised metal graces the drive mode dial and other switchgear.

With plusher floor mats, acoustic laminated rear glass, more precise sound deadening placement in the doors, and extra sound deadening material in the wheel arches, Aston Martin claims it is 13 per cent easier to hold a conversation when the car is on the move.

Although the GT downplays the DBX’s performance aspect, it retains the same drivetrain as the S. That means there’s 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 under the bonnet making 535kW and 900Nm. All of this funnelled to all four wheels via a nine-speed automatic transmission.

Unsurprisingly, the GT’s performance figures are unchanged, with the 5.0m long SUV capable of racing from 0-100km/h in 3.3 seconds and hitting a top speed of 310km/h. The carbon ceramic braking package is also carried over with 420mm discs at the front, and 390mm units at the rear.

While it retains the same steering rack as the S, Aston Martin has revised the damper settings and fitted Pirelli all-season tyres for a more compliant and quieter ride. The optional 23-inch wheels dial some of the sportiness back in.

A new GT mode tweaks the gas flow within the rear muffler to reduce harsh metallic frequencies for a more refined drive. Those who still want to wake up the neighbours can switch the car back to Sport or Sport+ mode.

Global availability is set to begin during the fourth quarter of 2026.
