There’s never a bad moment to look toward the future. Recently, Mitsubishi laid out its plans to strengthen the brand’s presence in the U.S., create sustainable growth, and expand customer choice. Named “Momentum 2030,” this road map to the future was shared in an invitation-only meeting with select dealers.
Starting with 2027, Tennessee-based Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc. will expand its current four vehicle lineup to six: Eclipse Cross, a new Eclipse Sportback EV, Outlander, Outlander Sport, Outlander Plug-In Hybrid, and a new off-road-focused Outlander variant whose name will be announced in the coming months. In addition, Mitsubishi intends to introduce a pickup truck in collaboration with Nissan.
“When we launched Momentum 2030, many questioned whether such an ambitious vision could be achieved. Today, that vision is taking shape,” says Mark Chaffin, president and CEO of Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc. “Mitsubishi Motors is fully committed, and the path forward for the U.S. market is clear.”
Momentum 2030 is built around four guiding objectives:
- A path to electrification
- A path to a renewed and expanded product lineup that strengthens Mitsubishi Motors in North America
- A path to a modernized retail sales model
- A path to network expansion and sustainable sales growth
The off-road Outlander and pickup will not be the only things to look forward to from Mitsubishi — the brand is celebrating the return of the Pajero. Officially debuting earlier this month, the fifth-generation Pajero will include Super All-Wheel-Control and will be built atop a ladder-frame, though its entrance in the U.S. market is unclear.
