That didn’t last long.
The BYD Atto 2 is no longer Australia’s cheapest electric SUV, with another small Chinese crossover – the Leapmotor B03X – taking the title.
Due in showrooms from November 2026, it’s priced from $26,990 before on-road costs in Style guise, undercutting the Atto 2 Dynamic at $31,990 before on-road costs.
For vehicles purchased and delivered between October 1 and December 31, 2026 and finished in the standard Acorn Brown paint, the B03X Style has a drive-away price of $29,990.

The base Style features a 39.8kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery delivering 292km of WLTP range and supporting 11kW AC and 100kW DC charging.
It powers a 130kW/200Nm front-mounted electric motor, giving the B03X Style a claimed 0-100km/h time of 8.6 seconds.
The Design Long Range, priced at $30,990 plus on-roads or $33,990 drive-away until December 31, upgrades to a 53kWh LFP battery with 382km of WLTP range and 133kW DC charging.
It has slightly more power at 145kW, but an identical claimed 0-100km/h time.

Both B03Xs feature 3.3kW vehicle-to-load (V2L) capability, allowing you to power small appliances.
The Leapmotor B03X measures 4270mm long and 1810mm wide on a 2605mm wheelbase, making it 40mm shorter and 20mm narrower than the Atto 2 on a 15mm shorter wheelbase. It slots in under the B10, which is classified as a small SUV but among the larger models in its segment, and the mid-size C10.
It features what Leapmotor calls Leap Flex seats, with the bases of the 60:40-split/folding rear seats able to be lifted upwards like cinema seats to allow you to put tall or bulky items on the second-row floor, and the Leap Box, a 105L waterproof and washable compartment below the boot floor.
Leapmotor also claims there are 33 storage spaces inside the cabin, while boot space expands to 1315L with the rear seats folded.
