The difference between off-roading and overlanding is that off-roading focuses more on conquering tough terrain and testing the vehicle’s limits, while the latter is more about self-reliant travel and long-term exploration of nature. Luckily, due to its increased ground clearance, specially developed all-terrain tires, and ALL4 all-wheel drive, the new 2027 Mini Countryman Untamed Edition is capable of handling both.

That is exactly what inspired the Untamed Edition. It combines the hallmark Mini driving experience with even greater freedom to explore new places and discover more along the way,” says Jean-Philippe Parain, head of the Mini Brand.
The most important part of the Untamed Edition is the 0.7-inch increase in ground clearance that is achieved by combining a 0.5-inch suspension lift with Pirelli Scorpion All Terrain Plus tires (which wrap around 19-inch Untamed Edition wheels). These components combine with Mini’s ALL4 system to provide confident handling, increased traction, and driver enjoyment in many different elements. Prior to its release, Mini tested prototypes on harsh off-road conditions in preparation for its debut at Rebelle Rally 2026.
Prospective buyers can choose either the Countryman S’s TwinPower turbo 241-horsepower 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic, or the Countryman SE’s 308-horsepower dual-electric-motor setup.
From the outside, the Untamed Edition features a textured matte black coating along the wheel arches, sills, and hood, which works to minimize scratches and chips and increase underbody protection. One can notice the grille (unique to the Untamed Edition) that showcases a vertically oriented geometry painted in Dark Steel. These trim pieces are combined with five different exterior colors that “draw inspiration from natural, earthy and mineral tones:” Hideaway Grey, Nomad Blue, Frozen Nomad Blue, Nanuq White, and Midnight Black. Each color has the option of being paired with a Glazed White, Jet Black, or color-matched roof finish.
As you carve mountainsides and deserts with the Countryman Untamed Edition, its interior exists to complement your experience. The colors, materials, and finishes are inspired by nature and modern outdoor equipment. One example of this is the Dark Steel components paired with Cornflower Blue accents surrounding the redesigned center console storage box that closely resembles climbing gear, backpacks, and other stuff you’d find in an REI catalog. The seats are upholstered in a choice of Vescin Nightshade Blue, Vescin Vintage Brown, or Vescin Black and include knitted surfaces with Cornflower Blue decorative stitching. Every Untamed Edition vehicle comes standard with rubber all-weather floor mats that perform well no matter what gets spilled on it.
The 2027 MINI Countryman S ALL4 Untamed Edition will start at around $45,250 (including destination and handling); pricing for the Untamed Edition of the Countryman SE will be announced at a later date.
