Chinese newcomer Avatr has officially confirmed its second model for Australia, the 06T electric sports wagon due to lob Down Under during the second half of 2027.
Speaking with Australian media in Paris, head of brand and marketing at Avatr Australia, Andrew Haurissa, said the 07L SUV is still on track to be the first Avatr model in Australia in the first half of 2027, with the 06T to follow in the latter half.
“[Avatr] 07L has been announced for the first half of the year next year. And, 06T second half of the year,” Mr Haurissa said.
It appears the Australian rollout will largely mirror that of the European market, with the premium Chinese brand confirming this week in Paris that the 07L and 06T will also lead the charge there – with more to come.

The Avatr 06T was already mooted to be the second model from the new Chinese brand to launch locally, after right-hand drive prototypes had been spotted in and around Sydney.
There are several versions of the 06T offered in overseas markets such as China, with up to three electric motors generating up to 712kW/996Nm in flagship Performance guise.
An 87.3kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery powers mid- and high-spec models, while the base grade offers a 450kW/750Nm dual-motor powertrain teamed with a 72.9kWh LFP battery.
The smaller battery has 620km of driving range on the older NEDC cycle, with the larger unit having up to 710km.
There’s also a range-extended (EREV) version, featuring a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine, two electric motors and a 45.1kWh battery, with system power of 370kW and a total driving range of 1200km based on NEDC testing – it appears, however, export markets will be EV-only.

Australia will be one of the first right-hand drive markets to receive Avatr vehicles, following the Thai market where Changan’s premium arm debuted in 2024.
Other models in the brand’s global portfolio offered in right-hand drive include the standard-wheelbase 07 SUV as well as the 11 coupe SUV. It’s unclear, at this stage, what the brand is planning beyond its first two models in Australia.
Mr Haurissa also noted the Avatr brand sees itself as a premium contender to the likes of “the Germans” – ie Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz – and positioned even higher than rival Zeekr from the Geely Group.
Australian pricing and specifications for the Avatr 07L are still to be announced, though the brand has indicated pre-orders will open before the end of 2026 ahead of deliveries commencing during the first half of 2027.
