It’s too bad the Dodge Viper isn’t around anymore because this year marks the 30th anniversary of the GTS coupe. Fortunately, the Firebird Trans Am was in production long enough for Pontiac to commemorate that milestone. You can do the same with our latest Pick of the Day, a 30th Anniversary Edition 1999 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am WS6 convertible listed on ClassicCars.com by a dealer in Grapevine, Texas. Not only does it come with the original window sticker, but the video below also shows an exterior/interior walk-around, the engine being started and revved, the power top being lowered, and driving footage.

Pontiac was always good about celebrating the Trans Am’s history, which explains the 10th, 20th, and 25th anniversary editions. By the time the 30th anniversary rolled around, the Trans Am was powered by the now-legendary LS1 5.7-liter V-8.

Thanks to Ram Air, the 346ci V-8 produced 320 horsepower and 335 lb-ft of torque, and sent it through either a four-speed automatic (which this Trans Am has) or a six-speed manual. The standard Ride and Handling Package’s upgraded suspension helped control all that power.
Like the 1969 original, the 30th had a white-and-blue color scheme but, this time around, Pontiac made it even more distinctive. In addition to Arctic White paint and blue striping, the T/A rode on blue-tinted 17-inch wheels. Convertibles literally topped things off with a power-operated Medium Navy Blue fabric roof.
Inside, white leather covered the seats. Power everything, cruise control, and air conditioning made every drive more pleasant.

This particular 30th anniversary T/A — #0610 in the 1,600-unit production run of coupes and convertibles — has even more going for it. Somehow, after all this time, it’s a one-owner car with only 34,320 miles on the odometer. If you want to add to that or celebrate the Trans Am’s 57th anniversary, you can do that once you buy this 1999 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am WS6 convertible for $36,000.
